Who to Contact about Fisheries Regulations and How To Do It.

I strongly suggest you save these for future reference.

When a bill to change regulations, or charge fees that you don’t like, here is a template you can use to get your message across and make sure it got through.

Your basic message is: (whatever you are informing them about, either against or for it)

Example:
  • Recreational Licensing fees,
  • Catch Shares,
  • Size Limits, etc.

Write, Fax, Phone and E-mail EVERYONE!!
I urge you communicate with your
  • Town Supervisor
  • County Representative
  • State Representative
  • State Senators
  • Fishery Council Members
  • Secretary of Commerce
  • The President of the United States

With computers and word programs
there is absolutely no excuse to leave anyone out.
Contact Everyone.

Inform your friends who have an interest.
Ask them to communicate.

I urge you to use your own words, use the KISS principle, and pleaseDo Not be Insulting or Negative Towards Anyone

  • Identify yourself and Town, State your position and why you Support or Oppose this issue.
  • Be Brief, if they have questions they will ask. If you get a secretary.
  • ALWAYS ask for the legislator’s response to your position.
  • If you receive no response after a reasonable period, FOLLOW-UP WITH ANOTHER COMMUNICATION.

It is important ALL sportsmen communicate NOW!
Be a Communicator – they don’t know what your concerns are or what you want unless YOU tell them!
